DO You Take Commissions?

Yes! I love being able to work directly with collectors to create something personal and meaningful for you! In order to do my best work and to manage other projects, it’s possible I will at some point need to cap the amount of paintings I take on, but I try to give accurate timeframe estimates, and will always give you the most up-to-date information if you reach out to me directly. Normally I am able to take commissions on a rolling basis.

How Do I Request A commission?

Please send an email to michelleblackhawkstudio@gmail.com with the basic details of your idea, and I will get back to you as soon as possible with pricing, process info, etc. (Please know that it’s perfectly fine to reach out if you don’t yet have a concrete idea of what you are looking for. I can help you determine what will work for your space and am happy to answer questions even you ultimately decide not to move forward.)

How long will it take to complete my painting?

Roughly 2-3 months, depending on the number of paintings I am working on and the size and complexity of your piece. Oils also take much longer to dry than other types of paint, so a couple weeks of dry time need to be accounted for as well. It’s possible I finish your piece more quickly but will be in contact with you throughout the process and try to give a rough estimate of timeline. If you need a painting by a certain deadline, please try to order early to ensure it will be finished. I will try to work with deadlines, but cannot guarantee always being able to make them. We can always send a beautiful note or photo as a placeholder - original art is worth the wait (at least I think ;) )!

What does pricing look like?

Pricing is calculated based on the size of your piece, so can vary widely. I fully understand that original art is an investment and am happy to set up a customized payment plan for you. I do require that the full amount be paid before delivery/shipping of your painting.

materials and sizing information:

It’s common for artists to have a minimum size requirement for commissions, but I genuinely love painting all size pieces, so am happy to work small or large! I work in oil paint, predominantly on cradled panels. We can discuss your options and preferences!

i SINCERELY APPRECIATE WHEN YOU ASK ME TO HELP YOU CREATE SPECIAL PIECES FOR YOU- THANK YOU!
